Dan's Story
Life:
Graduated St. Lawrence Univ. 5/71; volunteered/served in Vietnam 4/68-4/70; Graduate Faculty, New School for Political and Social Research ('72); graduated St. John's Law School 5/75; served 25 yrs in Corporate America '75-'00, primarily as General Counsel, and retired as Director, Exec. VP and Chief Legal Officer of an international insurance and reinsurance group in order to expand my work as a commercial arbitrator, which I started in '87; served as a Founding Director, President, and Chairman of ARIAS US, an arbitration society; retired from the ARIAS US board after 11 years in 11/03, and continue serving on arbitration panels. Active in golf, cycling, hiking, and traveling. Married (Gail Kennedy, who also retired in 2000 after 31 years in Corporate America) in '80. Opera singer daughter Kathryn, who graduated New England Conservatory/Boston and received a Master's in Music, is now Executive Director of Musical Mentors Collaborative, after serving as Dean of Students at Aspen Music Festival and School in Aspen, CO; she married civil engineer Jeff in 9/12, and as of 12/07/15 they...Expand for more
have a son, Cooper, and as of 11/29/19, a daughter Kennedy; Jeff works for Hanson Construction in Aspen and supervises superintendents of major projects. Eagle Scout son Michael lives in Oro Valley, AZ, where he is working for Werner Enterprises and raising three children with his wife, Rachael - Landon (18), Logan (16), and MJ (12). Gail and I live about eight months in Desert Mountain (northern Scottsdale, AZ) and four summer/early fall months in a townhome close to Katie and Jeff (and grandkids) in River Valley Ranch, Carbondale, CO. My mother passed in 8/22, just shy of her 102nd birthday, and my brother Tom ('65) lives and works in Jensen Beach, Florida.
Like many from the Class of '64, i am in my 76th year and recognize with even greater appreciation the importance of my high school years, particularly the administrators, teachers, and friends/acquaintances who helped shape me during that formative period.
I maintain contact with my friend of about 70 years, Tom Halsall ('64), and we were deeply saddened to learn of classmate Bob Strong's passing at the end of 2022.
